Advanced Simulation Techniques
Content
Part I: Seminar Simulation Techniques
In the first part the students are attending presentations in the field of “advanced simulation techniques”, given by experts from science and industry. These presentations have to be discussed and summarized.
In the second part each student has to prepare a presentation for a given topic within the area of simulation techniques. Afterwards the students have to give the presentation and discuss the results of the presentations during a colloquium.
Part II: Elective Courses
With two elective courses the participants receive in-depth knowledge of selected simulation topics and are consequently able to describe them mathematically and apply them to engineering problems. They are able to investigate and discuss complex and interdisciplinary problems in this context.

Teaching aims
The participants get a deepened knowledge in selected topics of computational mechanics and acquire the ability to independently research a subject in the area of advanced simulation techniques with the help of scientific methods. In doing so they are able to carry out a systematic and thorough literature, internet and database research. They are able to subsequently present their results and discuss it with their peers using modern media and visualization techniques.
They have as well the ability to get familiar with a new subject using the information given in a technical presentation by experts from science or industry. They are able to grasp and summarize the important ideas of such a presentation and to pass over this information to their peers by means of a short essay or an informal presentation.
